The beauty teams created an “army of weirdos” for the Giles’ S/S 15 show
When it came to the beauty brief for Giles’ S/S 15 show, the order of the day was: “Weirdness”.
The MAC make-up team was headed up by Lucia Pieroni. An inverted smoky eye trained sooty grey shadow from the inner corners outwards, capped off with a heavy brow for an ethereal Sarah Moon finish. A matte texture leant a hollow look to peepers – which remained mascara-free – while concealer was used to blot any pinkness of the lips away.
Nails took pointers from Giles’ Jaguar claw motif that adorned everything from sequin tunics to his invitation. Two-tone talons were painted in MAC shades Nocturnal and Deep Sea, explained manicurist Marian Newman, who likened the look to a Co-codamol capsule. It a sure-fire hit with the models. “The girls love them – they want to keep their nails for the Milan castings,” Newman said.
Hair was pared down into a sober style by Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck’s label.m team. A split parting at the crown created a deep V shape that was then tamed into two textured ponytails (one high, one low), then label.m Sea Salt spray was applied for added texture. Hair was then draped over the ears to finish, for a grunge twist on prim Victoriana.
