Beauty makes a Queens-meets-courtesan statement at the GILES S/S 16 show
‘Elizabethan beauty married with dishevelled courtesan debauchery’ was the make-up mantra for the Giles S/S 16 show. Lucia Peroni and the MAC Pro team reworked the chalk-white faces favoured at court, keeping a pale visage fresh with Studio Waterweight Foundation. An all-over, almost ghostly luminescent glow was created with Strobe Cream and Crème Colour Base swept across cheekbones. Eye were defined with Kohl Pencil in black along the waterline on both top and bottom lids, imperfectly applied as if the girls had rubbed it in themselves. Mascara was applied heavy-handedly, focusing on the roots of lashes. Lips took centre stage with slightly overdrawn heart shaped mouths first outlined then filled in with pencil, followed by a final layer of Matte Lipstick in raspberry. The result felt luscious and sensual.
The Toni & Guy Session team, headed up by Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, created elegantly dishevelled, braided textures for the show. Hair was prepped using label.m Volume Mousse before being finger-parted slightly off-centre then plaited close to the head. Water was sprayed on the hairline through to the ends of lengths, while the face was softly framed with wisps of hair, giving the impression that hair had strayed from under a wig cap for an androgynous feel. Finally, label.m Therapy Rejuventating Oil Mist was spritzed over hair for added wet-look shine before models took to the catwalk.
